In addition, Steve has held a number of positions at State and National level within the Australian Karate Federation (AKF) since 1990.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Steve\u2019s training commenced in the 1980\u2019s with local instructor Warren Haseldine under the leadership of Alan Burdett (Kyoshi-Shihan, 8th Dan) from the Bunbury Dojo.\u00a0 Steve has an enormous amount of knowledge and experience in the technical aspects of the Goju Ryu martial art and in Coaching Development having been a coach at State and National level with the Australian Karate Federation (AKF). Steve was also the State Coaching Facilitator mentoring AKF coaches throughout Western Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mandurah dojo opened in 1978 with Steve taking over instruction in 1990. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student numbers are capped to ensure each student has a safe, challenging and innovative environment to develop in.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Having a high level of coaching expertise has allowed Steve to develop a great depth of coaching skill amongst the students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mandurah Dojo caters for students aged 7 \/ 8 years to over 65 years; beginners can start at any time. The material taught in class covers the Goju Ryu syllabus. Goju Ryu is characterised by close in fighting\/self defence and circular techniques with the addition of ground skills and also you are introduced to the traditional weapons of Okinawa along with knife defense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our training also covers effective Weapons, Partner Flow Drills and Groundwork skills to increase the effectiveness of the Goju material.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goju Ryu Karate is an Okinawan Martial Art heavily influenced by Chinese Martial Arts. It is therefore a martial art where you are conditioned to the training gradually so your strength, flexibility, confidence and general overall health improve as your skills develop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Steve has been recognised for his many years service to the Australian Karate Federation, awarded Life Membership and recognised for 30 Years of Coaching at the Mandurah Dojo by the South West Goju Ryu Association.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those who commence training with us, you will have taken on the responsibility for your own well-being and safety as you don\u2019t expect others to take this responsibility on.
